I think it’s my favorite month of the year – now that I’m an adult and don’t go to school anymore. I just love the atmosphere of early autumn that comes with it. Autumn, along with Spring, is one of my favorite seasons. Don’t get me wrong – I think I like all of them – I appreciate their differences but Autumn is the one I truly love.
So, this September I decided to challenge myself a little bit and set myself clear goals towards simply becoming a better version of myself or improving slightly my surroundings. Everything I’m going to document either here or on my Instagram (if you aren’t following me yet you can do it over here if you wish ^^)
Goal setting is very important for me – as I am a very chaotic person. It gives me the sense of control over my time and helps me dealing with a bit of a FOMO I developed lately. Seriously, if you struggle with productivity or you just feeling that you are wasting your time (which you probably not, you are just too harsh on yourself!) try it!
Anyways, let’s get to the point. In September I want:
- Get a new office chair
That’s a must. I set up a little bit of an office area in our flat for myself but either I sit on a very old and uncomfortable dining chair or a big red leather armchair which is very comfy but only if you can lean back. Why I’m making such a big deal out of that? Why don’t I just get on with it, buy it and don’t even mention it in my goals? Because I’m broke. And like I said – I just need some direction atm.
- Minimalist Challenge
I’ve seen it all over Instagram of my fellow bloggers who are a great inspiration to me Aldi to Harrods and Thrifty Mum. Since then I wanted to try it out myself! I was a bit late for August edition, so I made a plead to myself to do it in September. I have a UNBELIEVABLE amount of clutter as both me and my boyfriend are a bit of hoarder. I plan to sell at least half of what I’m about to get rid of, though, but still. I think it’s a challenge made for me!
- Limit screen time
I’m working mainly with computers as my day job. And I write on the computers as my hobby. And I read books on my iPad. And I stare at my phone probably as much as an average girl my age does. So altogether I spend a lot of my day staring at screens. That’s why this month I am going to try to limit it a bit – I can’t really help it at my job, but I can make some improvements in this department in my free time. So, I pledge to:
I will read 4 physical books.
I will have ‘no electricity night’ with my Boyfriend at least once a week. (You say boring, I say candles and board games? FUN!)
I will try to write most of the stuff in my notebook rather than on my PC.
- Gratitude exercise
I really want to make this one a part of my life. I think it’s important to feel grateful for what you already have not keep wanting more and more. And wanting more and more is good because it gives you that drive to do more things but stopping for a second and just being happy with stuff you achieved and people you gathered around you, food on your plate and roof over your head is as important.
- Healthy life
I wasn’t the healthiest this summer. All those barbecues and fizzy drinks (not only fizzy wink wink) seriously didn’t help and now a have a little bit of belly fat to get rid of. I used to work out all the time when I was a bit younger but as I grew older I grew lazier. So yeah, I just want to get back in shape, get my stamina back! What I’m going to do then is:
I will eliminate snacking (except for cheat days)
I will exercise every day (in September, later on, I will bring it down to about 4-5 times a week)
I will drink one green tea a day (to detoxify my body a bit)
- No-phone date night
That’s the last thing I want to do – just leave our phones at home and enjoy each other’s company again. I mean we do enjoy it but it’s most of the time we are either texting, watching something funny or browsing internet on our phones. It’s still time together but it’s not QUALITY time together. I want to focus on that.
As you can see my goals are not too difficult, they just require everyday dedication.
What about you? Do you like setting goals for yourself? Are you doing it weekly, daily or monthly? What’s your plans for September?
